Adobe acquired Day Software in 2010 and added CQ5 product to their umbrella and introduced new Web Experience Management (short WEM). Day Software was a swiss based company already making good revenue out of CQ5 technology. Day Software integrated capabilities of  Apache Jack Rabbit  into CRX (Content Repository Extreme) which used JCR (Java Content Repository). JCR is based on JSR 283 standard developed under Java Community Process. It is important to note that JCR was previously named as mJax (micro Jax).

Adobe CQ5 is used to create content and allow organizations to develop their custom components based on JCR storage technology for achieving hybrid storage capabilities. Adobe CQ5 used internally CRX  technology which was originally developed by Day Software. In my personal view Adobe CQ5 is a next big thing in web industry and people will see the power of CQ5 more in coming months which will impact how companies sale their products online. Adobe CQ5 is already rated one of top product by Gartner research organization and by other independent research companies. I feel Adobe CQ5 can change the way people build content and publish content to their enterprise web applications. Adobe CQ5 includes capabilities like CQ5 Web Content Manager – WCM, CQ5 Digital Asset Manager – DAM, CQ5 Marketing Campaign Manager MCM, CQ5 Social Commmunities – SOCO, CQ5 WorkFlow, CQ5 Security and CQ5 Tagging. These all features make Adobe CQ5 a great technology for making it top in market and first choice for organization who want to win business.

Currently CQ5 is in 5.5 version and expecting new release to happen by mid 2013. I feel CQ5 an make web authors life very easy because it contains features which are not available in other content management system technologies. Adobe is ready to invest millions of dollors to make this technology successful and allow it to remain in top list. Hope you got some good understanding on Adobe CQ5 technology and hope you will continue to learn and spread your CQ5 knowledge.
